CanMakes

CanMakes examines what it takes to build in Canada.

The process, the decisions, and the thinking, told by the people doing the work.

About the project

A short film series about the process behind building in Canada.

Each episode examines how the work actually gets done across all the industries that make up the Canadian economy.

What people protect, what they sacrifice, and what guides them when the easier path would be to compromise.

Taking part

Be part of how Canada tells its own story.

How it works
Taking part involves a conversation filmed on location, in your space, around your work. No script or preparation is required. B-roll of the work itself is captured alongside the interview.
What you receive
Early participants receive a finished short film produced to broadcast standard, featured across all CanMakes channels, along with select footage for their own use.
Who produces it
CanMakes is produced by Michael Hughes, a Toronto-based producer, photographer, and strategist whose editorial work has been commissioned by the Financial Times, The New York Times, Bloomberg, and AFP. He spent eight years as a staff content producer for the Governments of Canada and the United Kingdom.
